{art museum}

We loved spending time at the art museum. They had an amazing rare Chinese exhibit "The Emperor's Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City" that only came to 3 cities in the u.s! It was neat to see. I really want to buy a giant buddha for our house... maybe I'll have my own yoga room one day... (and yes that is the building that they filmed in for transformers 3...isn't it amazing)

a day in milywaukay

luckily the weather cooled down a little by the time we got back from nauvoo and we were able to spend a fabulous weekend in Milwaukee. I love to show family where we live. We had so much fun down at lake Michigan :)

After dedicating the temple in 2002, president Hinckley encouraged all to walk down Parley street towards the waterfront and experience the "exodus of greatness" or exiting of Nauvoo. Along the trail are plaques that have excerpts of journals and quotes of those pioneers who left everything to cross the river. Pres Hinckley asked everyone look back to the temple and imagine leaving everything you have. What faith! It was my second time to Nauvoo and still touched me as I walked down to the mississippi river and looked back and imagined myself seeing that gorgeous temple for the last time.

I can see why this was not The Place since it was SO bloody hot and humid but Nauvoo was such a historical & spiritual site to visit! We only had a short amount of time but we toured all the houses, went to the gorgeous temple, touched the Mississippi river, laughed during a play at the visitors center, loved the relief society tribute garden, went to Carthage jail, toured with the community of Christ sites, watched a dramatization of Joseph and Emma reading each others letters in front of their house, walked the trail of hopes, learned tons of facts, heard inspiring stories, LOVED the pageant, drank tons of water and grew a greater appreciation for all we have...esp an air conditioned car.

I had such an amazing long weekend with my mom and little sister! We had been planning this trip to Nauvoo for forever, even though the time went by too fast we enjoyed every minute. They got in late wednesday night and we started the 5 hr drive early thursday morning.

For all of you who live away from home you know how exciting it is to have family come visit. Get ready for a lot of post cause you know I took tons of pics...

its getting hot in here

yes you read that correctly- the real feel is 116 degrees!! nasty. This weekend is going to be miserably hot & humid. Wisconsin and I are not getting along right now... I miss the dry utah heat. I always rave about how green and gorgeous it is here so its totally unfortunate that I have family coming to visit me on the hottest weekend since 1995!
My mom and lil sister fly in tonight :) AH I am so excited and so anxious annie right now... its going to be a long day at work. Hope they're ready for this humidity.

obsessed with braids

remember my i want post well heres a little upate. I found out its called the waterfall braid and its really easy but doesn't look as great on my hair cause its not thick enough :( but I finally figured out how to do the french braid wrapped around the back to a side bun. Its kinda tricky
